1. What is Edge Network in Fogwing?

In Fogwing context, Edges are device or actuators act as a source point to collect data from sensors and send to Fogwing Cloud. Edges could be physical sensor device, virtual resources, wireless devices or any embedded SOM components. In order to ensure the data integrity and platform security, edge devices should be configured properly in the Fogwing IIoT Platform to enable the connection between Fogwing Cloud and devices.


2. How can I create Edge in Fogwing?

Creating Edges within our platform enables you to consolidate real time data that invariably helps you store, process, monitor and trigger alerts.


To Create Edge, execute the following steps:

  • Login to your Fogwing IIoT Platform account >> 
  • Click ‘Edge Devices’ from ‘Edge Network’ on left side menu bar of Home page >> 
  • Edge Devices List View page will appear >> 
  • Click ‘Add’ button from the Edge Devices List View page >> 
  • Fill in the key details >> 
  • Select ‘Submit’ button.



When you enter the required fields, make sure your MAC ID is unique.


Your New Edge will not be created failing to meet the requirement of a unique MAC ID. Duplication is not recognized.


EUI ID will be generated as per MAC ID.

3. Can Edge be modified? How?

In Fogwing, Edge Devices can be modified. A few simple steps and it’s done. In order to do so, make sure you are a user of Fogwing Enterprise account with an application already created.


To Edit Edge, execute the following steps:

  • Login to your Fogwing IIoT Platform account >> 
  • Click ‘Edge Devices’ from ‘Edge Network’ on left side menu bar of Home page >> 
  • Edge Devices List View page will appear >> 
  • Click the ‘Edit’ icon against the Edge Device that needs to be edited >> 
  • Complete the edits >> 
  • Select ‘Submit’ button.



Device EUI ID cannot be edited / modified.


While editing Edge, Application cannot be edited if IoThub access is already created.


4. I want to Delete Edge in Fogwing, Can I? 

Edges in Fogwing can be Deleted to suit your changing requirements from time to time. Here is a few steps to follow.


To Delete Edge, execute the following steps:

  • Login to your Fogwing IIoT Platform account >> 
  • Click ‘Edge Devices’ from ‘Edge Network’ on left side menu bar of Home page >> 
  • Edge Devices List View page will appear >> 
  • Click the ‘Edit’ icon against the Edge Device that needs to be Deleted >> 
  • Edit Edge page will appear >> 
  • Select ‘Delete’ button from the bottom right.



You can Delete the Edge without having to Delete Application.


If you wish to delete an application, you must first delete the edge that is connected to that particular application, only then will you be able to delete the application.


To Delete an Edge, IoThub access must be deleted.
